SUMMARY:
In April 2017 the Santa Clara Valley Water District (District) entered into an agreement with Interpersonal Frequency (IF) for the Web Modernization Project for the District. The current District website was last redesigned in 2010 using a proprietary software. The state of the current District website is that the content management software is out of date and no longer supported; information is hard to find and cumbersome to manage, and the site is not responsive to mobile devices.
The overarching goal of the current web modernization project is to develop a clean, mobile-friendly water district website with improved search, efficient content management, cloud-based disaster recoverability, and security.
IF is implementing a research-driven design based on District goals and priorities. The process includes in-depth interviews with internal stakeholders and content managers; and site visitor surveys and IF's Voice of Citizen analytical data collection tool that monitors activity of external site users. District staff and IF have taken all the various inputs into consideration to develop a site that looks aesthetically pleasing, but is functional, easy to maintain for both content managers and IT technical staff, provides improved technical security and disaster recovery of the cloud, effective, modern, and mobile-friendly tool for citizens to engage with the District. The site is being built using an open source platform called Drupal.
In this live demonstration IF will walk through the new site's layout, information organization and new features, including improved search and mobile functionality. The site is scheduled to begin testing on Dec. 15, 2017 and launch Jan. 16, 2018.
