RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Receive and discuss information related to status of the United States Army Corps of Engineers projects where Valley Water is the Local Sponsor, Co-Local Sponsor, or member of a Local Sponsor Agency.

 

 

Body

SUMMARY:

 

The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is currently partnering with Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) on planning, design, and/or construction of 8 flood protection projects that will provide flood protection for approximately 22,600 homes, schools and businesses in Santa Clara County. USACE staff provides an update on partnership projects to the Board in preparation for upcoming legislative meetings in Washington, D.C., in which Valley Water will be requesting federal funding for its projects.

 

Lieutenant Colonel John Cunningham and key staff from the USACE San Francisco District Civil Works Branch will present information and address the Board’s questions on the following projects:

 

1.                     South San Francisco Bay Shoreline Design and Construction

2.                     South San Francisco Bay Shoreline Phase II Study

3.                     Upper Guadalupe River Design & Construction

4.                     Upper Berryessa Creek Construction

5.                     San Francisquito Creek Study

6.                     Coyote Creek Study

7.                     Upper Penitencia Creek Study

8.                     Upper Llagas Creek Study

There is no financial impact associated with this informational item.
