Adopt the Resolution NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH, SEPTEMBER 2020.

SUMMARY:
Every year the President of the United States issues a proclamation declaring September as National Preparedness Month. Several state and local governments including the Santa Clara Valley Water District follow suit with proclamations or resolutions to promote family and community disaster planning now and throughout the year. As our nation continues to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time be involved this September.
National Preparedness Month provides an opportunity to remind us that we all must prepare ourselves and our families now and throughout the year. As our nation continues to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to be involved this September. This year's National Preparedness Month campaign will focus on planning, with an overarching theme of "Disasters Don't Wait. Make Your Plan Today." and will be comprised of the following 4 weekly themes.
Week 1: September 1-5 Make a Plan
Week 2: September 6-12 Build a Kit
Week 3: September 13-19 Prepare for Disasters
Week 4: September 20-26 Teach Youth about Preparedness

It takes a team effort to ensure that we are ready for any disaster. We are asking our employees and the public including individuals, businesses, local governments, and other organizations to improve their emergency and disaster preparedness by taking time to visit the Ready websites at ready.gov; download the ReadySCC app; sign up for notifications at AlertSCC.com; learn lifesaving skills - such as CPR and first aid; and check your insurance policies and coverage for the hazards you may face, such as earthquake, flood and fire.
