Adopt the Resolution NOMINATING JOHN H. WEED TO THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA WATER AGENCIES JOINT POWERS INSURANCE AUTHORITY.

SUMMARY:
The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) is a nonprofit organization of water districts, created to advocate for the interests of member agencies. The ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA-JPIA) is a partnership of water agencies working together to share the risks associated with purveying water. ACWA-JPIA is dedicated to consistently and cost-effectively providing the broadest possible affordable insurance coverage and related services to its member agencies.
The JPIA has invited member agencies to submit nominations to fill a vacancy on the ACWA-JPIA Executive Committee. As such, on February 23, 2023, the Executive Assistant and District Secretary to the Alameda County Water District (ACWD) on behalf of ACWD’s Board Member, John Weed, requested the Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) Board of Directors adopt a concurring resolution nominating John Weed to the Association of California Water Agencies Joint Powers Insurance Authority Executive Committee.
As an active member of the JPIA Board of Directors since 2012, ACWD Board Member and immediate past President, John Weed, has represented the interests of member agencies such as Valley Water in the direction and activities of the JPIA. Mr. Weed was elected to the ACWD Board of Directors in 1995 and previously served as President of the Board in 2022. He also serves as Chair of the ACWD Finance Committee and serves on the ACWA Federal Affairs Committee. The attached correspondence from Mr. Weed further outlines his qualifications.
