Body
SUMMARY:
Since 2016, the Board has conducted an annual strategic planning session to develop goals and objectives for the Board's focus, engagement, and monitoring for the fiscal year. The purpose of the Board of Directors Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Work Plan Session is to discuss pertinent issues and provide strategic direction to develop the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (FY26) Board Work Plan. The Board will review its work plan at a special board meeting on October 23, 2026.
In preparation for that meeting, the Board will review its Board Governance Policies including the framework and general principles of the Ends Policies to ensure they align with the goals and objectives in its work plan. The Board will also review the Board Committee Structure.
This work study session will be facilitated by Mayra Cruz, a leadership facilitation and governance consultant with over 35 years of experience. Mayra is recognized for creating collaborative, high-trust environments where boards can navigate polarized debates, clarify executive limitations, and establish common ground and a unified strategic direction. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico—providing her with deep insights into group dynamics—and a master’s degree in education from San Jose State University.
