RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation
Adopt the Resolution PROCLAIMING MAY 18-24, 2025, AS NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK.

Body
SUMMARY:
Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) has been a participating member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) for over 40 years. Valley Water staff and retirees have served on the board of the local APWA South Bay Area Chapter and have volunteered their time in support of APWA activities.

Instituted as a public education campaign by APWA in 1960, National Public Works Week calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. National Public Works Week is a celebration of the tens of thousands of people in public service throughout North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works.

APWA is encouraging all APWA member agencies to designate May 18-24, 2025 as National Public Works Week. "People, Purpose, Presence" is the theme of this year's campaign. APWA National encourages all APWA Chapters to spotlight the importance of public works for the welfare of the community. This proclamation of National Public Works Week is an opportunity to support APWA in its mission and bring awareness to our community regarding the positive impacts public works has on our quality of life.

Attachment 1 is the proposed Board Resolution supporting the proclamation. Attachment 2 presents the APWA poster for this year's theme.
