Adopt the RESOLUTION DECLARING SEPTEMBER 15 TO OCTOBER 15, 2021, AS NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH.

SUMMARY:
The Organization for Latino Affairs (OLA), a Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water) Employee Resource Group (ERG), in collaboration with staff from the Office of Racial, Equity Diversity and Inclusion (REDI), recommend the Board formally acknowledge and declare September 15 to October 15, 202 as National Hispanic Heritage Month.
OLA historically has celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month with presentations and events at Valley Water to increase awareness of the diversity of Hispanic and Latino cultures and to recognize the contributions of Hispanic and Latino-Americans, as well as their important presence within Santa Clara County.
This year OLA plans to host several events in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The events are intended to educate employees on the contributions of the Hispanic/Latin community to society, including the impact of Hispanic/Latin culture on cuisines and science.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact associated with this item.

The recommended action does not constitute a project under CEQA because it does not have the potential to result in a direct or reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
