Body
SUMMARY:
Every year the President of the United States issues a proclamation declaring September as National Preparedness Month. Several state and local governments including the Santa Clara Valley Water District follow suit with proclamations or resolutions that further raise awareness, urging individuals, businesses, schools, and community-based organizations to take steps toward personal preparedness to increase their ability to survive a disaster and reduce economic devastation following a major crisis.

National Preparedness Month, as part of America's PrepareAthon!, is a grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience. This year's National Preparedness Month campaign focuses on the theme: "Don't Wait. Communicate. Make Your Emergency Plan Today." This year, National Preparedness Month will be comprised of the following 4 weekly themes.
* Week 1: September 4-10 Multigenerational Preparedness
Make a family emergency communication plan
* Week 2: September 11-17 Community Service
Get involved in your community & plan with neighbors.
* Week 3: September 18-24 Individual Preparedness
Take individual steps to prepare for a disaster today such as downloading the FEMA app.
* Week 4: September 25-30 Lead up to National PrepareAthon Day!
Be counted and register your preparedness event for National PrepareAthon Day!

Emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every citizen of Santa Clara County. It takes a team effort to ensure that we are ready for any disaster. We are asking our employees and the public including individuals, businesses, local governments, and other organizations to improve their emergency and disaster preparedness by: visiting the Ready websites at ready.gov/prepare and Listo.gov ...
