Review and adopt the Board Policy and Planning Committee’s recommended Board Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Message.

SUMMARY:
At the December 13, 2016 meeting the Board requested that the Board Policy and Planning Committee (Committee) summarize the Board’s previously identified Fiscal Year 2018 (FY 2018) priorities and develop a Board Budget message for the upcoming FY 2018 budget development cycle.
The Committee met on January 5th and February 1st and reviewed the priorities for each business area. The items that the Committee identified to include in the FY 2018 budget message are intended to be the Board’s urgent priorities, but are not exclusive of other important priorities which are still necessary to achieve.
Attachment 1 is the Committee’s draft Board FY 2018 Budget Message for Board consideration and adoption. The message provides details on the Board’s budget priorities and direction to staff so that a FY 2018 budget can be developed and delivered, for the Board’s consideration.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact associated with this item.
CEQA:
The recommended action is a ministerial action and thus is not subject to the requirements of CEQA.
