Recommendation
Authorize the CEO to increase the maximum purchase order amount for FISHBIO by $46,920 for a total amount, not to exceed $273,283 to enable the installation of three Vaki fish monitoring systems.

SUMMARY:
On June 13, 2017, the Board authorized the acquisition of three underwater fish counting devices to enable fish migration monitoring. The customized design and fabrication to mount the devices within each facility was more extensive than previously anticipated. This amendment will enable the customization and installation of three fish monitoring systems. Staff is requesting the Board to authorize the CEO to increase the maximum purchase order amount for FISHBIO by $46,920 for a total amount, not to exceed $273,283.
Background
The Vaki Riverwatcher system (RW) is a cost-effective tool to monitor fish migration. This specialized tool has been utilized by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, National Marine Fisheries Service, and many others to monitor migratory fish in streams all over the world. Without this system, monitoring fish migration would be much more labor intensive, less effective and significantly costlier. The RW systems are planned to be installed at three locations within Stevens Creek, Guadalupe River, and Coyote Creek.
Progress Made
Since June 2017, District staff completed the purchasing agreement, conducted site visits with the vendor and have identified the need for site specific design and fabrication to enable smooth installation at each facility.
Staff have prioritized the Guadalupe site in anticipation of early fish monitoring results from this stream. The drawings for this facility have been completed and fabrication of the system and its associated housing and hardware has been initiated. Additional ...
