SUMMARY:
The attached Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Board Work Plan (Plan) (Attachment 1), previously referred to as the Board Strategic Plan, is presented for Board review, approval, and direction on distribution.

Background

In October 2017 the Board conducted a planning session on the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 (FY19) Strategic Plan. During the planning session, the Board reviewed the progress made in implementation of the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 (FY18) Plan, and discussed changes and additions necessary for the FY19 Plan. At the conclusion of the planning session, the Board requested that the Board Policy and Planning Committee (BPPC) review and synthesize the Board's discussions and return to the Board with revisions to the FY19 Board strategies for review and approval by the full Board.

In February 2018 the BPPC presented revisions to the FY19 Board Strategies. The Board accepted these revisions and requested that the BPPC work with staff to develop a FY19 Plan that includes the Board's strategies and that connects to the District's Mission and Board Governance Ends Policies.

The BPPC met in April, May, and July and reviewed information, received input from the public, and finalized a report that:
* Connections with the District's Mission and Ends Policies (long-term goals and objectives);
* Identifies the Board strategies for FY19 that accomplish the goals and objectives, and that require more detailed engagement and more frequent monitoring at the Board level; and
* Is presented in an easy-to-read format that communicates the information to the public, community and stakeholders.
