RECOMMENDATION:
Recommendation
Request that the Clerk of the Board administer a Ceremonial Swearing-in and Oath of Office for Directors John L. Varela, District 1; Linda J. LeZotte, District 4; Tony Estremera, District 6; and Gary Kremen, District 7, for Terms Expiring December 2022.

SUMMARY:
In the general election held on November 6, 2018, Director Tony Estremera, District 6, won his election for term expiring December 2022.

Districts 1, 4 and 7 each only had one candidate file a Declaration of Candidacy, current District 1 Director, John L. Varela, current District 4 Director, Linda J. LeZotte, and current District 7 Director, Gary Kremen. The Registrar of Voters (Registrar) did not receive any petitions requesting that elections be held for these districts. So, in accordance with California Elections Code ?10515, the Registrar submitted a Certificate of Election Facts and Request to Fill Vacant Office by Appointments for District 1, 4 and 7 to the County Board of Supervisors, as the supervising authority over the elections, requesting that John L. Varela, Linda J. LeZotte and Gary Kremen be appointed to the offices of Director for Districts 1, 4 and 7, respectively. On October 16, 2018, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution BOS-2018-114 (Attachment 1) appointing John L. Varela, Linda J. LeZotte and Gary Kremen to terms expiring December 2022. No elections were required for these districts.

At the time this memorandum is being distributed, the final certified results of the election have not been received from the County of Santa Clara Registrar of Voters.
