SUMMARY:
Santa Clara Valley Water District’s (Valley Water) third annual Water 101 Academy program launched on March 3, 2021. The Board of Directors selected 21 Santa Clara County community members (three from each board district) to participate in the leadership program. As the program concluded on May 26, staff recommends that the Board of Directors formally acknowledge each participant’s completion and graduation from the program to become the third cohort of water ambassadors.
Background
Since it was first launched in 2019, the Water 101 Academy has served as an annual leadership program open to all community members in Santa Clara County. Selected participants learn about local water issues, current opportunities, and challenges in the water industry. This year, the Water 101 Academy took place between March 3 and May 26 and consisted of five sessions: 1) Value of water: Water challenges in California and Silicon Valley, 2) Where does our water come from? 3) Watershed works in action, 4) Water is life: Securing our future and 5) Let’s get WET (Water Education Training). Presenters for each session included Valley Water staff throughout the agency.
