Consider the March 27, 2023, Water Conservation and Demand Management Committee Recommendation to Consider Rescinding the Water Shortage Emergency Condition.

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommendation

Consider recommendations resulting from the March 27, 2023, Water Conservation and Demand Management Committee meeting to:

A.                     Adopt a Resolution Rescinding:

(i)                     Resolution 21-68, Declaring a Water Shortage Emergency Condition Calling for Water Use Reduction,

(ii)                     Resolution 22-20, which amended Resolution 21-68;

B.                     Suspend enforcement of prohibition 3.1 (a), the 2-day per week watering limit of residential nonfunctional turf, in Amended Water Use Restriction Ordinance 22-02; and

C.                     Direct the CEO to bring a recommendation for the Board’s consideration, which calls for water conservation as a way of life in Santa Clara County.

SUMMARY:

This memorandum will provide an update regarding water shortage conditions impacting that were Santa Clara Valley Water District (Valley Water).

A supplemental agenda memo with the latest information will be included in the Supplemental Board Agenda Memorandum.
